General Information
ALCOHOL
The Swiftel Center follows the South Dakota state law that prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. To purchase alcohol, guests will be required to provide appropriate proof of age with one of the following forms of identification:
- Valid United States driver’s license
- Any valid U.S. State or Federal Government issued Identification
- Any valid U.S. Passport and/or Passport Card
- Valid Military ID issued by the U.S. Department of Defense
- Valid Foreign Passport
The following policies have been established to promote the responsible and safe use of alcohol.
- Guests may not possess or purchase more than two (2) alcoholic beverages at one time.
- All concession stands and portable units will stop serving alcohol approximately thirty (30) minutes before the end of the event.
- Alcohol of any kind may not be brought into or removed from the Swiftel Center.
- The Swiftel Center administrative team reserves the right to confiscate any items, bottles and/or containers used in attempt to bring alcohol inside.
- The Swiftel Center administrative team reserves the right to refuse service to guests who appear intoxicated or who are disturbing other guests.
- Any guest who exhibits behavior that distracts, inconveniences or interferes with another guest’s enjoyment of the event may be removed from the Swiftel Center.
- Alcohol will not be served to any underage person or visibly impaired guest.
- Alcohol beverage sales may be curtailed or prohibited at the discretion of the Swiftel Center administrative team.
BAG SEARCHES
All guests will be subject to a search of their person and possessions when entering the Swiftel Center. Guests should be prepared to open their bags for inspection and may be asked by security to shift and possibly remove the contents.
BAG SIZE
Bags must be no larger than 12″ x 12″ to be permitted inside the Swiftel Center. Guests who have bags larger than this size will be asked to return them to their vehicles. All bags will be searched for prohibited items at entry.
BOTTLES OR CANS
Bottles and cans of any kind are prohibited from being brought into the Swiftel Center. Any guests deliberately concealing alcohol which is found during the security screening process may be prohibited from entering. Any guest found consuming from or in possession of a prohibited container may be asked to leave. SEE PROHIBITED ITEMS.
CAMERAS
At the request of the artists and management, cameras – specifically cameras with professional/detachable lenses and flash – are not permitted. The Swiftel Center reserves the right to examine and prohibit the use of any camera that conflicts with the policy set by the event. Audio recorders, video recorders and digital cameras with video capabilities are prohibited during events. SEE PROHIBITED ITEMS.
DRONES
For the safety of everyone at the Swiftel Center, the operation of drones, unmanned aircraft and remote-controlled aircraft at the Swiftel Center is strictly prohibited without the advance written consent of management. SEE PROHIBITED ITEMS.
EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES
All Swiftel Center staff are trained in proper procedures for emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, the Swiftel Center team members have been trained and instructed to assists guests in evacuating the facility. It is a good idea to identify emergency exits closest to your seat location. Guests are asked to remain calm and follow the instructions of the Swiftel Center team members and/or the public address announcer.
FIRE ALARMS
Emergency warning systems are equipped with both audible and visual strobe alarms.
GUEST SERVICES
Our team at the Swiftel Center is committed to providing excellent service for our guests. Our event services team members are located throughout the facility if you have any questions. You may also visit the Ticket Office in the main lobby for additional guest services questions and information. For service issue assistance prior to or after an event, guests can email swiftelcenter@swiftelcenter.com.
LOST & FOUND
During an event, you may inquire about lost or found items at our Ticket Office in the main lobby. For inquiries following an event, please call our Ticket Office at 605-692-7539 during normal administrative hours.
Lost & Found is open during administrative hours only. Items lost at prior events are held in a locked storage area for thirty (30) days and are then either disposed of or donated to an appropriate charitable organization.
The Swiftel Center cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items including but not limited to any unattended property or equipment.
LOST CHILDREN & PERSONS
Guests should report missing persons to the nearest Event Service team member. Swiftel Center team members will work with all persons, staff and law enforcement to reunite guests with their party.
METAL DETECTION
At most major events, guests will be required to go through walk-through metal detectors or be subject to metal detection via wanding. To accommodate the additional time needed for these security procedures, guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow extra time and to travel light, as you may be subject to search.
NOISEMAKERS
For the comfort of all our guests and to maintain the integrity of events, guests at the Swiftel Center are not permitted to bring in any type of noisemaker or musical instrument. This includes air horns, cow bells and any type of whistle. SEE PROHIBITED ITEMS.
OUTSIDE FOOD & BEVERAGE
Outside food or beverages of any kind - including alcoholic beverages - are not allowed to be brought into the Swiftel Center. SEE PROHIBITED ITEMS.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
For the safety of our patrons, artists, and employees, the following items have been deemed prohibited by the Swiftel Center administrative team and are not allowed in at any time. Any patron in possession of a prohibited item may be asked to surrender the item or return the item to your vehicle. In the event you choose to leave the Swiftel Center and not return, refunds will not be given.

PROTESTS & PETITIONERS POLICIES
The staff at the Swiftel Center is committed to creating a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience. For individuals or groups wanting to distribute literature, gather petitions, host informational protests, and/or host demonstrations, the following are the policies of the Swiftel Center:
- If an individual or group wishes to distribute literature to guests, gather petitions, conduct an informational protest and/or host a demonstration at the Swiftel Center, the individual or group must inform the administrative team directly at 605-692-7539 at least 72 hours in advance of the event.
- The use of physical structures must be approved by the Swiftel Center administrative team and shall not interfere with ingress or egress or cause harm or damage to the facility or grounds.
- An individual or group will be allowed to make their views known on the Swiftel Center grounds, so long as their statement of those views does not interfere with ingress or egress. The distribution of literature, petition-gathering, informational protest and/or demonstration will occur in an exterior area designated by the Swiftel Center administrative team and will not be closer than 100 feet from any facility entrance.
- During the distribution of literature, petition-gathering, protest and/or demonstration, the activity must be monitored by an individual or group. All undistributed literature, signs, placards, etc. must be disposed of in an appropriate manner.
- An individual or group found distributing literature or any unauthorized marketing will be asked to collect all distributed materials and leave the grounds or facility; the individual or group may be subject to charges for clean-up costs and maintenance for any additional materials found.
- Distribution of literature, petition-gathering, informational protests and/or demonstrations are not permitted inside a leased area or building. These spaces are under contract with the client and therefore are no longer considered public spaces.
- Any type of literature, sign, placard, etc. will not imply that it is a publication of nor that it is endorsed or sanctioned by the City of Brookings, the Swiftel Center or VenuWorks. The literature and protest/demonstration materials will not utilize any pictures, materials or other items in violation of any copyright, trademark or trade name of the City of Brookings, the Swiftel Center or VenuWorks.
- The sale of or distribution of goods or services on Swiftel Center grounds, including parking lots, without consent is prohibited.
The Swiftel Center reserves the right to expel from the Swiftel Center grounds and facility any individual or group who violates these rules. Any questions can be directed to the Swiftel Center administrative team at 605-692-7539.
PUBLIC ADDRESS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Please be attentive of Public Address announcements at the Swiftel Center. In the event of an emergency, instructions for guests may be transmitted over the PA system.
RAILINGS
For the safety of everyone at the Swiftel Center, guests are asked to refrain from sitting, standing or leaning on the railings.
RE-ENTRY
At Swiftel Center ticketed events, once a guest exits the Swiftel Center, re-entry is strictly prohibited.

SELFIE STICKS
Selfie sticks are not permitted inside the Swiftel Center. See PROHIBITED ITEMS.
SMOKING POLICY
The Swiftel Center does not allow the use of tobacco products in the facility. Tobacco products are defined as: chewing tobacco, cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, electronic cigarettes, hookah, snuff, and snus. Smoking, including the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaporizers and other similar products, is prohibited inside the facility and will be strictly enforced. Exterior designated tobacco use areas are available as well as ash and trash receptacles. Guest will be allowed to leave the facility and re-enter in order to use tobacco as long as guests remain inside the designated area.
SOLICITATION / LOITERING
Guests should be aware that the distribution of banners, business cards, booklets, commercial advertising, flyers, notices, posters, pamphlets, stickers, t-shirts and/or printed materials is prohibited at the Swiftel Center. Any guest who persists in solicitation while on the Swiftel Center property will be subject to ejection.
